What Other People Think of You Is Stupid

Why do I say that?

Because others’ assessments of you are wrong more often than not.

It’s so easy to fool people.

I’ve had stones chucked at me–Undeserved stones.

I’ve also had bafflingly kind words said about me when I was more deserving of a stone slung in my direction.

It’s so easy for people to put you in their neat little boxes.

Know what’s funny?

Everyone has you figured out.

That is, everyone but you.

You’re pretty complex, huh? Yeah, me too.

I still haven’t figured myself out yet. Oh, but I can probably give you neat little summaries of others, though.

Lame, isn’t it? I think so, too.

We all have our label guns out. We’re good at sticking certain labels to peoples’ foreheads.

Arrogant, kind, useless, generous, fun, go-getter, lazy, awkward…

Uncomfortable walking around with all those labels on your forehead?

You should be.

Those labels you live with are stupid.

Sure, some of those derogatory labels were well deserved. We all have some of those.

But it’s dizzying trying to make everyone happy. Seems like the harder you try, the more you screw up at that.

Me too.

Something in creation screams proof of an infinite God.

Whether you zoom in on the molecular level or zoom out to deep space, something quickly becomes apparent.

Everything He’s made is absurdly complex. He is way over our heads.

That same infinite God loves you.

The Architect of atoms and galaxies knows your name.

He is the reason other peoples’ opinion of you is stupid.

Would you ask a grain of sand to estimate you when you can just ask the Ocean?

Whatever the Ocean says about you is all that matters.

Everything else is just noise and needless fretting.

If a “large” pile of sand praises you but the Ocean does not, what’s the point?

And if a clump of sand grains roll their eyes at you but the Ocean affirms, then what?

You just keep right on doing what you’re doing.

That’s what! 🙂
